17 Leaffall

There was no record scratch as Kadda, the mighty avatar of Oghma and scourge of card cheats, tried to help his “friend” Jabal when he noticed some of the less unscrupulous bar patrons were being less then honest during a game of cards. As a brawl breaks out, the various members of the party are pulled away from their activities and the temperature of the room is more accurately taken as those who didn’t take part in the conflict notice the behavior of the patrons as the battle heats up.

Holding their own against a dangerous pair of knife wielding twins and a poisonous halfling, the party comes to an end when Mintarin guards arrive and break up the donnybrooke. No arrest are made, though the apathy from the guards illustrate the depths of the corruption. With the evening still ahead of the party, they decide to head to work for a late night patrol of the wall. There they are informed by Lt. Mudbrick that their services are needed in rescuing a lost raiding party. The party is tasked with entering the chasm and bring the men back. As the sun dips over the horizon, the party heads for the wall.

Having survive their encounter with the Red Talons, the party gets no where when they try to pump the last remaining Gnome for info. What they learn is small and not very helpful, as the Red Talon agent refuses to give up his client or his purpose. Though it is clear that Eristhi is the target of the attack, for what purpose still eludes the party. Flagging down a squad of Mintarn officers, the party hands over the culprits of the donnybrook and proceed across the Wyvern Bridge.

The sea-salt sprays fills the air as the party head down the wharf towards the Leviathan tavern. Unfortunately, they are beset upon by attacking Spellplagued. These twisted monstrosities ravage the market place when the mysterious Heir of Neverwinter arrives. Helping the party beat back the evil swarm, they don’t get much out of the Heir before a Spellplague Dragon attacks!

A valiant battle ensues as party and their latest ally battle the spell-mad white Dragon. Using the Crown of Neverwinter, the Heir is able to subdue the dragon, turning it from flesh and blood creature to a being of pure stone. After the dragon has been vanquished, the party receives the appreciation of the air and are given a special broach in which to summon the Heir if ever his assistance is needed. Taking their leave, the party arrives at the Leviathan tavern.

Song, merriment and intrigue follow, as the party talks to patrons and the owners, installing themselves in the local color of the town. While Jabal takes in a game of cards with a set of halfling and a pair of twins, Kadda notices some cheating going on (amazingly, not from Jabal) and go to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, the Agent of Oghma kicks off a good ol’ fashion bar brawl. Will the party survive or will they be denied bottle service!?

17 Leaffall

Kadda, The Chosen of Oghma, stood before three books and was told to choose one. Remembering the trapped doors from the tunnels before, Kadda chose the correct book… Which turned out to be yet another surprise anyway. The PC’s all became drowsy and the world faded around them…
____
When they regained consiousness, the PC’s found that they existed only as mere motes of energy floating in space. From the empty space, 10 paths formed and as each PC chose a path 2 options were taken away from those yet to choose. When everyone had chosen, it was revealed that these were paths for one’s conciousness to find it’s body, but only Tana achieved that task. Kadda found the body of Erishti, Torinn found Kadda, Jabal found Torinn, and Erishti ended up with Jabal.
____
Try as they might, none of the PC’s could manage to speak to each other, though Erishti could still communicate with thoughts. The world slowly came into focus around the PC’s and there were 5 motes to be found in the cavern. Each character felt a pull toward a different one, and they knew these must be the keys to unlocking the middle shuffling mystery. Unfortunately several monsters also came into view, and the battle began. Tana spend the whole fight under the spell of a tentacle flailing fish monster and as a result could not control her actions. Everyone else put up a valiant fight, but eventually the foes overwhelmed them and the PC’s fell.
____
Everyone awoke in their right minds again to find out that this had only been a challenge for the Chosen of Oghma and his team, and they had failed. They moved on to the library of the temple and Kadda was consumed in an arcane circle. The other PC’s used the hints from a riddle to save him from his bindings by singing. This was the second test, and thankfully they had passed. Desperately in need of some rest, the crew decided to head back to the barracks.
____
Just outside the temple center, in the classroom area, the PC’s encountered more smugglers types who attacked on sight. After a light skirmish, the leader called off his goons and the heroes had to work WITH the smugglers to fight off a wave of zombies pouring in from over The Wall. Shortly into the battle though, the ruffians abandoned the group and they were left to defend the temple alone. Several of the zombies were felled in one blow, but a few of the stronger one exploded when killed (again?). After a grueling battle where many of the PC’s had their healing abilities disabled, the quintette headed to the barracks to get some much needed rest, at last….or they would have, if their weren’t squatters in the way.
